about

On “Did You Know,” singer Momoko Gill takes the key poem from Alabaster DePlume’s 2022 album GOLD and translates it into her own lyrics. Momoko thinks it’s hilarious that Alabaster complains about the stupid sun. She was away on a deep journey when she took on this task, of adding a lead vocal to the instrumental music improvised by other people 3 years ago. She’s delivered the message of the poem in tons of gigs with Alabaster and sang it - now she has laid out her own meaning for the words. In the background you hear Alabaster playing the key melody of GOLD – the song “Now” that ties the whole album together – but the meaning is decided here by the chords chosen by the players who were improvising the arrangement and composition, purely for the sake of enjoying each other at the time.
